Furlong Assists NKY Leadership Class; Sponsors Healthy Newborns House
The Northern Kentucky Leadership Class of 2014 is working with Transitions, Inc. to provide funding and support for the Health Newborn House Furlong Controller Nanette Brames is a member of the leadership class and Furlong Building Enterprises is a sponsoring organization for the project.
As mothers all over the nation will be celebrated this Sunday, business leaders from over 50 area companies and organizations will come together Friday at 10 a.m. to cut the ribbon on a project that helps mothers and their babies. However, this project is a bit different: these mothers, and now their babies, are fighting heroin addiction.
The Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 Leadership Northern Kentucky Class is working with Transitions, Inc. to secure funding for the Healthy Newborn House, which provides housing and support for up to 10 expectant and new mothers who are battling an addiction to heroin. Mothers and their infants can stay in the home for up to four months after giving birth and they receive life skills training, addiction support, and assistance in finding permanent housing. To be eligible for housing in the Healthy Newborn House, mothers first complete the Transitions Women’s Residential Addictions Program (WRAP), where they undergo 90- 120 days of residential addiction treatment, then move to the Healthy Newborn House.
Sponsors of the Healthy Newborn House include: DHL, Southern Air, Toyota, Valmark Securities Inc., Messer, Duke Energy, Focus on Success, Furlong Building Enterprises, Raines Buechel Conley & Dusing PLLC, NKY Hates Heroin, Erigo Employer Solutions.
